"50 years Hip Hop and Bodé"

  • Mark et Vaughn Bodé

MARK BODÉ returns to Europe after his last exhibition in 2017 at the Angoulême festival. Invited for the third time in France by ADDA Gallery, he presents new artworks based on influential graffiti figures from the 80s to the present day.

Transforming artists such as Dondi White, Lady Pink, Seen, Os Gemeos, and many more into Bodé-style characters, the exhibition features pieces inspired by original photographs by Martha Cooper. The artworks are showcased on New York City maps, canvases, prints, and paper drawings.

VAUGHN BODÉ, an important figure in American underground comics of the 70s alongside Gilbert Shelton and Robert Crumb, has had a significant influence on the emerging New York hip-hop scene and pioneering graffiti artists. Following Vaughn's passing, his son Mark faithfully carries on his father's legacy and safeguards his stylistic heritage.

For 50 years, Bodé's style and iconic characters like Bubble Letters, Broad Bodé women, and Cheez Wizard have inspired graffiti and street artists worldwide. Original drawings by Vaughn Bodé will also be exhibited.
